3. 1995	A national research project aiming to develop technology in relation to gene therapy commenced. DNAVEC Research Inc, the managing company of the project, was founded and invested in by The Drug Organization (The Organization for Drug ADR Relief, R&D Promotion and Product Review at that time) and 7 private pharmaceutical companies.

1996	Application of a basic patent for the Sendai virus vectors.

4. 2000	Foundation of a Kyushu University gene therapy research consortium. Fifteen gene therapy research themes using DNAVEC’s vectors began.

6. 2002	A collaborative research contract was made with the United Kingdom (UK) Cystic Fibrosis Consortium and a grant was received from the consortium.

9. 2003	Foundation of the DNAVEC Corporation. Managing staff and 4 pharmaceutical companies (Kyowa Hakko Kogyo, Sankyo, Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical and Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical) made investments. The aim was to lead the research outcomes of the national research project to business.

3. 2004	The national research project DNAVEC Research Inc. basically ended its activities and became a patent management company.

4. 2004	DNAVEC Corporation obtained the exclusive rights to the intellectual property managed by DNAVEC Research Inc. Commercialization of the research outcome has been accelerated.

9. 2004	DNAVEC Corporation has get investment of 1910 million yen (approximately $17.4 million) from venture capitals and industrial companies.
